My name is Jess Trujillo (Jessica on my official documents). I am an estate agent in Mauritius, and I run the VIP’S H’OM agency. On this page, I introduce myself, because it matters to know who you are entrusting your project to. Behind this website there is a real person, and I am the one who answers your messages.

My origins: from Champagne to Mauritius

I come from a small village in the Marne valley, in Champagne, called Villers-sous-Châtillon. I am French, of Spanish origin. First, I trained in business. Then I set up on my own at 23, creating a countryside restaurant near Épernay with three trout-fishing ponds. This is how I learned the entrepreneur’s trade very early, and above all the meaning of service. The restaurant opened every year on the first weekend of March and closed on 31 October. During those eight months, I worked seven days a week, at least fifteen hours a day.

Falling in love with Mauritius in 2007

I discovered Mauritius on 1 January 2007, and I fell in love with the island within the first few days. I stayed for two months. After that, every winter, while the restaurant was closed, I came back to spend a few months in Mauritius. Each departure broke my heart, though. This is why I decided, in 2009, to sell my restaurant and come to live here. I sold it in February 2012, and I settled in Mauritius for good in March 2012.

Why real estate? Because moving abroad is never straightforward. When you live far away, you have to leave your family and friends, then travel to the other side of the world, to an unfamiliar land. I was lucky enough to meet the right person, who helped me settle in. Today, our friendship has lasted twenty years. A trusted contact changes everything. This is why I chose to be that person for those who wish to settle in Mauritius.

I therefore support expatriates, investors and families with their purchase, their rental and their move. I also answer your questions myself, before a mandate is signed and afterwards.

My career in Mauritius

From 2012, I advised investors on the island’s property programmes, notably RES and IRS, as an independent consultant. Since 2014, I have run VIP’S H’OM. My daily work covers the sale and rental of residential properties, negotiation and transaction follow-up, for local and international clients.
